Arguably the first Famous Actors were those that came from the silent movie seen in the 1920s and 30s. Among them were the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and the comedic duo of Laurel and Hardy. Even the aforementioned two were more interested in stunts however, most of the films they made were also comedies.
After this era came the first movies with sound, which were known as ‘talkies’. At this time, everyone seemed to have moved on, although comedies were still popular, and the most Famous Actors were those that starred in gangster films such as James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, and Edward G Robinson, as can be learnt on screenoholic.org.
Later, Westerns became just as popular as gangster flicks, with the likes of John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and Burt Lancaster starring in some of the greatest ever reenactments of life out in the desert, in the old US. In the 70’s, two of the biggest stars were Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, who were both rose to fame for their performances in The Godfather among other projects.
